Matthew Roberts presented this month’s NHS Halton CCG Radio Show with the CCG’s Alec Schofield in the Producer’s Chair.

We were joined in the studio by Alison Wallace & Rachel Davies (07.20) from the Deafness Resource Centre who talked about the services DRC are delivering in Halton. Dawn Tarpey (24.15) from Red Cross joined us to talk about how they help people returning home hospital. Di Armstrong (50.00) from NHS Halton CCG explained consultation work surrounding our Urgent Care Centres and Gill Fell (01.07.30) talked about how she helps people to feel better with mindset coaching.

The team also discussed Lung Cancer Screening Trucks, jumping out of aeroplanes for charity, Liverpool FC’s title challenge and the 80’s classic movie, Top Gun.

Matthew Roberts presented this month’s NHS Halton CCG Radio Show.

We were joined in the studio by Dr Gary O’Hare and Rob Foster (02.30) from R Health. They spoke about their efforts to improve services in GP practices across Runcorn. Also in the studio was Rebekah Walsh (46.20) from Halton Borough Council’s Health Improvement Team. Rebekah talked about the upcoming Fit 4 Life camps. Finally, Matthew spoke to Nicola Donoghue (01.13.25) from Widnes & Runcorn Cancer Support Group about their project working with young people (which has been funded by NHS Halton CCG).

Angelita Woosenam provided us with a 1 Minute Heart Breathing Meditation and Halton Carers’ Centre and Citizen Advice Halton sent in information. The team discussed male pattern baldness, Rob & Matthew’s dream of hosting “Cricket Match Special” on HCR and whether the lyrics to Soda by “Nothing But Thieves” were keeping with the general ethos of the show.

The team also talked about the wider work of HCR, Christmas Dad Jokes, Matt’s goalkeeping abilities and they officially ushered in the start of Christmas by singing “The Fairytale of New York”.

We chatted on the phone with Roy Lilley (07.00) about the Academy of Fabulous Stuff and the importance of innovation within the NHS. Later on we were joined in the studio by Sarah Johnson-Griffiths (50.00) from HBC’s Public Health Team to stress the importance of staying active and not over indulging over Christmas. Finally, Halton legend Bob Bryant BEM (01.16.58), founder of the Let’s go Stroke Club phoned in to say hello.

Our first guests were Keeley McClennan & Victoria Walsh (09.30) who talked inspirationally about Maternity Voices Partnerships. Then we chatted on the phone with Brian & Liz Byrne from Years Ahead (28.50). They told us about the activities they deliver and how listeners could get involved. Matthew provided a pre-recorded report on his Health Check (53.45) provided by Pam Moss from HBC’s Health Improvement Team. Lastly, Rob Foster (01.21.30) explained a new project, R Health, which will try to improve GP services across Runcorn.

The team also discussed imaginary sausage dogs, Rob’s childhood pet dogs, the glory of brussel sprouts and Matthew told his favourite Charles Dickens joke.

Our first studio guest was Pam Moss from Halton Borough Council’s Health Improvement Team. Pam explained the Health Checks service for over 40’s.

We were also joined in the studio by Lucy Reid (Head of Medicines Management at NHS Halton CCG) to talk about Over the Counter Medicines and Self-Care.

Nicky Ambrose-Miney (Commissioning Manager at NHS Halton CCG) then joined us to talk about engaging residents regarding potential changes to our Urgent Care Centres.

Finally, Shaun Reid (Primary Care Commissioning Manager with NHS Halton CCG) joined us to explain the role of Care Navigators.

The team also discussed the 1987 wedding of Scott & Charlene on Neighbours and Shaun Reid reviewed Liverpool’s excellent start to the Premier League season.

Our first guest was our much beloved regular contributor, Des Chow (05.05) from Halton CCG. Des explained why consulting with the public is important and encouraged listeners to participate in a consultation exercise about the proposed closure of Hale Village GP Surgery.

We were also joined in the studio by the brilliant Trudy Jones (22.45) from Halton Borough Council’s Library Services. Trudy talked about Books on Prescription and all the superb services provided at Halton’s libraries.

Our final guest was the magnificent Marissa Pendlebury (46.45), founder of Nourishing Routes. Marissa explained her favourite teas and biscuits, as well as talking about her work supporting individuals with eating disorders.

The team also discussed the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia with Alex and Matt making predictions about when England will go out and HCR’s James Wooding joined us to talk about his favourite World Cup songs.

We were also joined in the studio by Dave Marteau (56.00), one of NHS Halton CCG’s Commissioning Managers. Dave is the Lead for Respiratory, Cancer & End of Life services and he explained his work in this role.

The team also discussed the European Cup final, England’s cricketing malaise, “The Doctor Who Gave Up Drugs”, the wellbeing of Martyn in London, whether being 40 meant you were middle aged and HCR’s James Wooding joined us to defend the movie, Dirty Dancing.

Podcast – Launch of The Green Room

On Friday 27th April Halton Community Radio launched their third studio, entitled “The Green Room”. The studio (which is named after former Presenter and Director Rob Green) will enable special performances to be broadcast live on HCR. The launch show, hosted by Andy Wroblewski featured interviews and performances from Rob Green, The Studio Sings (a choir from Loose Music) and The Jumpin’ Landmines.
